Yes. The mobile app is 100% free with no ads and no hidden costs. You get all 25 game formats, Venmo payouts, real-time scoring, and 27,000+ courses across North America and Europe at no charge. The only paid product is Duck Hook Pro (starting at $299/year), which is designed for league organizers and golf course professionals.
Duck Hook Golf is available on both iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play Store). It works on any modern smartphone.
Adding players is simple — just enter their name when setting up your game. Add an email address too and they get even more: a personal account, full scoring history across rounds, and post-round summary emails automatically sent after every game. No more chasing people for their Venmo or trying to remember who shot what last week.
Nope — no account required to play. Just add them by name when you set up the game and they're in. But if you add their email, they unlock a lot more: a personal account, scoring history across every round they've played, and automatic post-round emails with full results. It takes 10 seconds and makes every future game better.
After a round is complete, Duck Hook Golf calculates exactly who owes whom based on the results. Each player sees their balance and can tap to send or request payment via Venmo. We don't process payments directly — we generate the correct Venmo links so the amounts are pre-filled.
Every game can be played gross (no handicap) or net. For net scoring, Duck Hook Golf follows USGA handicapping — strokes are automatically distributed across holes based on each course's stroke index, with support for single and double pops. Enter your handicap index and the math is done for you.
Duck Hook Pro takes it further. You can choose between USGA and handicap-adjusted scoring, and manually reassign which holes individual players receive their strokes on — useful for split-tee formats, uneven handicap distributions, or any situation where the default stroke allocation doesn't match how your group actually plays.
Yes. Side games let you run multiple games within the same group. Playing skins AND a nassau on the same round? Create both, enter scores once, and each game is tracked independently. The round still settles as one: a single results email, and the money from every game netted into one settle-up.
Yes. Open Side bets on the round, pick the bet, pick who is in, set the stake per golfer, and pick the winner when it is decided. There are fourteen to choose from, including closest to the pin, long drive, longest putt, Poison and a custom bet you name yourself. The winner takes the pot, a tie splits it, and if nobody wins nobody pays. The money goes into the round’s settle-up with everything else, and you have 24 hours after the round ends to pick a winner. How side bets work.
Yes. Turn presses on when you create the game. When you are behind, tap Press under the bet: a new bet starts from the next unscored hole, or the bet you are in is doubled from there on. Every press shows on the leaderboard for the whole group, settles with the round, and is listed in the results email. Presses work on match play, Nassau, Vegas, Quota, the points games and skins. See the guide to presses.
