Fix a score, edit a game, see the money live.

Since 1.8 we’ve shipped five updates to the free Duck Hook Golf app. They’re mostly about the things that go wrong around a round: a score typed wrong, a game set up wrong, a game nobody meant to start. Version 1.8.5 can fix all three. Along the way the app also picked up Dots, Team Nassau and Team Skins, and a line that shows everyone’s money while you play. Here’s what’s new.

The short list

Fix a score after the round

It happens every week: somebody’s 5 went in as a 6 on the 14th, and nobody notices until the results email. Until now that round was final. In 1.8.5 the round’s owner can open the results, tap Edit Scores, pick the hole, fix the number and save.

The scorecard is shared, so a fix reaches every game on it. The skins, the Nassau on the side and any presses are all settled again on the corrected card, and the payouts change to match. If a game had presses and the fix moves its money, the press goes back to the group to confirm before the new settlement stands.

A few guardrails:

While a round is still being played, nothing changes: anyone in it can fix a score on the round screen, as always.

Change a game before it starts

Set up a $5 skins game and meant $2? Picked net and meant gross? You used to have to delete the round and start over. Now the owner taps Edit Game on the round screen and changes it: the format, the stake, handicaps on or off, the teams and the tee order. The golfers stay as they are. If you own more than one game in the round, the button says Edit Games and each one gets a tab.

That works until the first score goes in. After that the game is a bet people are playing, and its setup is locked.

Delete a round, or just one game

A round made by mistake can be deleted by its owner, live or finished. The app asks once, because deleting the round deletes every game in it, its results and every golfer’s scores. That arrived in 1.8.2.

In 1.8.5 a side game can go on its own. Started a Snake nobody wanted? Its owner taps Delete Game, and the round, its other games and everyone’s scores stay. The round’s money is worked out again without it. League rounds can’t be deleted from the app.

Everyone’s money, while you play

The round screen shows one game’s standings at a time, so the question everyone asks on the 15th tee (“where am I across everything?”) used to wait for the payout. Since 1.8.4 there’s a line under the course name with every golfer’s net across every game in the round: “Al +$14 · Bo −$6 · Cy −$3 · Dee −$5”. Up is green, down is red, and it updates as you move from hole to hole. With no signal it dims, and catches up when you’re back in range.

It’s the same netting the one settle-up uses at the end, so the number on the 15th tee and the payout in the parking lot agree.

Three more games

That makes 32 formats in the free app. When a club or league runs Best Balls or a four-person Team Scramble in Duck Hook Pro, golfers score it in the app too, once Pro has built the teams.

And the smaller things

All of it is in the free app.

32 formats, live money, presses, side bets and every course. No ads, no paid tier for players. Update or download and set up your first game in under a minute.
